What we keep, and what we never do
Last changed 5 September 2026. This page describes what actually happens; when the code changes, this page changes with it.
The population is synthetic
census.world is not the census and is not affiliated with the US Census Bureau or any government; it is a synthetic population built from public statistics. Every profile in the population is a draw from public statistics and anonymized survey aggregates. No profile is a real person, none is built from a real record, and no answer describes anyone who exists. There is nothing about you in the population.
Questions you ask
The text of a question you ask is stored with its answer, and finished answers can appear in the public gallery of questions, without any record of who asked. Do not put personal data, yours or anyone else’s, into a question. To simulate the answers, the question text is sent to a language-model provider under a contract that forbids training on it; nothing else about you goes with it.
Your email, if you leave it
The waitlist and the contact form take an email address, optionally a name, a company and a note. They are stored on our own systems, used only to reply to you and to tell you when your turn comes, and never sold, shared or added to anyone else’s list. Ask and we delete them.
No tracking
The site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads no third-party scripts. Ordinary web-server logs (the address a request came from, the page, the time) are kept briefly to keep the service running and are not used to profile anyone.
Questions about this
Write to us through the form on any answer page, or the waitlist on the front page, and say it is about privacy. We answer within a day. The terms of use say what you may do with an answer.
